The passengers traveling to and from Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad were trapped on the Karakoram highway (KKH) on Wednesday, since the heavy rains caused landslides of land that blocked the main road in various points of Kohistan.
The snowfall and the rain continue through the northern region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan and have paralyzed life in the area. Several parts of Swat, Dir Upper, Chitral, Shangla, Mansehra, Battagram, Kohistan, Abbottabad received strong snowfall, while Hunza, Skardu, Ghizar, Diamer and almost all the GB districts were covered with a snow blanket while continued to fall for the third consecutive day that also went down to Mercury in the region.
Raja Ashfaq Tahir, Diamer Police spokesman, said Dawn.com that the KKH was blocked at two different points between Dasu and Diamer with passengers stranded on both sides as the work to reopen the road continued.
“The Bhasha section to Raikot has opened, which was also blocked last night due to landslides as the rain continues in the area. The road is now blocked in the Lotar area of High Kohistan, ”said Diamer Police spokesman.

ADC Khuram Rehman informed the passengers stranded about the blockade of the road and assured that the administration of Kohistan would be on duty if they needed any help.
He warned the hotel owners that they would not tolerate the passengers stranded and that rapid legal measures would be taken in such cases.
Rehman said the work to clear the road continued, but the consecutive showers hindered the elimination of debris, however, the road was expected to open at night. He said that more than 200 families were hosted in the Dasu Rural Health Center.
Tahir told him Dawn.com That there was a landslide in the Hodar area of Diamer, blocking the KKH again in the district.
He said the machinery had been transferred to the area for the extraction of debris to open the affected part of the KKH.
Shangla’s deputy commissioner, Mohammad Fawad Khan, also issued a notice to passengers that the strong snowfall caused a part of the Bisham-Swat Cueva road where a vegetable supplier vehicle also fell and the driver of the vehicle was injured.
He urged people to avoid traveling on the road.
