Police arrested three suspects on Tuesday for the alleged group violation and theft of a woman in the area of Ibrahim Hyderi in Karachi.
According to a statement from the Malir Police spokesman, Mohammed Imran, “the police arrested three suspects from the Ibrahim Hyderi area based on technical sources and intelligence information.”
The suspects were part of a group involved in the alleged group violation and theft of a woman in the area, according to the statement.
“The suspects not only looted ornaments of gold, effective and objects of value of the house, but also violated the woman,” he added.
During the initial investigation, the suspects confessed their participation with two other accomplices, according to the statement. “The suspects forcibly eliminated the women’s earrings and fled with them,” he added.
Police said they recovered a gun full of the suspects.
Futher said that raids were carried out in several places to arrest the other two members of the gang. The statement continued: “The criminal records of suspects are being further verified.”
Police said they were taking legal measures and that more important investigation was being carried out.
Despite the presence of laws such as sections 375-A and 376 of the Pakistan Criminal Code, which prescribes life imprisonment or death for group violation and up to 25 years for rape, sexual violence against women remains generalized.
Earlier this month, the police arrested the main suspect allegedly involved in a girl’s group violation in Ittehad city.
In February, a session court sentenced a 10 -year prison for rapeing a younger child in Lyari.
