Karachi experienced showers throughout Tuesday when the weather office warned that “torrential rains” could cause urban floods and flooding in the low areas of the city.
Meanwhile, three people lost their lives in rain -related incidents, which included two teenagers, who lost their lives due to electrocution during the downpour.
Pakistan’s department of weather (PMD) said that a deep depression system that would cause rain in the city had weakened in a depression that was now in the center of Sindh. “Due to this system, the strong currents of the monsoon are continuously penetrating the province. Three dead in rain -related incidents

A young man drowned in Malir Nadi (river) full of rain, while another was rescued Tuesday night, according to officials.
Rescue-122 spokesman Hassaan Ul Haseb Khan said that two men were trying to cross the Malir Nadi in Yar Mohammed Goth.

Meanwhile, Sindh’s prime minister Murad Ali Shah ordered Malir’s attached commissioner for the personal supervision of the operation. He directed the DC to inform residents in the adjacent areas of the Malir River for situations that develop there due to rain and guarantee the protection of life and property.
Later, K-Electric issued a statement maintaining that preliminary investigations showed that their “infrastructure was not involved” in any of the incidents.
Tariq Road declared a non -stellar zone
Previously, the city’s transit police took the preventive measure to declare both sides of Tariq Road “not parking”.
The Traffic Police published in X that the MET office had predicted strong rains and urban floods for September 9 (today), in view of what “citizens, as well as all market associations, its members and administrations report that both sides of Tariq Road have been declared a non -walking area.”
Police said the passage was given so that Tariq Road could be used as an alternative route in case Sharea Faisal, one of the main arteries of the city, “is affected.”
“Citizens are requested, especially market associations and members, to avoid parking on both sides of Tariq Road so that the traffic flow is not hindered.”
Early in the morning, the Transit Police reported that it rained in parts of the city. He advised switches to be cautious and warned them on slippery roads.
The Traffic Police also advised people not to travel to low areas.
Meanwhile, the additional inspector of the Karachi Police, Javed Alam Ode, instructed the general deputy inspector and the District Police Superintendent to inform his subordinates and relevant officials about the assistance he was to provide in case of rain. He also ordered them to coordinate with all the relevant departments.
According to a statement issued by the Police, he asked them to inform the residents of low areas, especially those who live alongside Ríos and Nullahs, about the climate situation so that caution measures can be taken.
“All possible cooperation with the Traffic Police must be guaranteed,” he said, adding that the alternative routes to those affected by the rain must be verified.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by the House of the Principal Minister (CM) said that the city administration was put on alert on the directives of CM Murad Ali Shah.
He quoted the main secretary of Sindh, Asif Hyder Shah, saying that the district administrations and the departments of the local body should “go out in the field” to help citizens and stay prepared for the rain spell.
He ordered the commissioners assistants and municipal commissioners to verify the drainage of Nullahs, and added that arrangements must be made to have equipment necessary for the drainage of rainwater.
“The machines provided by the PDMA (Provincial Authority of Disaster Management) must be ready for drainage.”
Mayor Details Preparatory Measures
On Monday, the mayor of Karachi, Murtaza Wahab, went to a press conference, where he detailed the precautionary measures taken in view of the rain forecast.
He said that despite the precautionary measures, it was inevitable for the city to take “a few hours” recover after each downpour.
Hearing the preparation, limitations and political landscape of the city in the middle of the ongoing monsoon spell that is expected to continue until September 8-10.
“The sea level is high, it could not drink water,” he explained, adding that this natural phenomenon was one of the city’s biggest challenges during heavy rains.
Highlighting the preparation of the city, the mayor said that the 46 main drains (Nullahs) under Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) that led to the sea had been “cleaned”, including the Nullahs of Gujjar, Orangi and Mehmoodabad.
“Additional pumps have been installed, the machinery deployed and 120 water and sewerage vehicles are active throughout the city,” he said.
Socorro camps have been established in key strangulation points to provide citizens stranded water and cookies, and the municipal personnel license have been canceled to guarantee the presence of field 24 hours, 7 days a week.
The mayor urged residents to keep calm and the patient, advising them not to run during the rain.
Last month, 15 people were killed since the rains had severely tried the fragile Karachi infrastructure, which caused the drains and sewers of rainwater to explode, and also interrupting industrial operations throughout the economic center. Several areas experienced extended interruptions of power and internet services, which continued until late, interrupting everyday life and increasing the misery of citizens.
Most of the deaths occurred due to collapseing structures, drowning and electrocution during the three days of rain, according to hospital officials.
