Bengaluru: Sandalo Ranya Rao, daughter of the Director General of Police (Police Housing Corporation) Ramachandra Rao, was arrested by Income Intelligence Directorate (Dri) detectives in the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Monday night, for charges of gold smuggling.
Ranya, who had arrived from DubaiHe was caught with 14 kg of hidden gold bars in a belt tied to his body, along with 800 grams of gold ornaments. It was produced before a judge on Tuesday night and sent to the 14 -day judicial custody. The researchers suspect that it is part of a gold smuggling racket that has been actively operating through Bengaluru airport during the last months.
The 32 -year -old actress has performed in some Kannada films, including the protagonist of Sudeep, Maanikya and the Ganesh Pataki star, as well as the movie Tamil Wagah, starring Vikram Prabhu.
According to the sources, Ranya was under the radar of Dri due to its frequent foreign trips, according to reports, making more than 10 trips since the beginning of the year. “The officials suspected and began to track their multiple short trips to the Gulf,” said a Kia officer.

The sources said it evaded the detection taking advantage of official protocol services typically used by high -level bureaucrats, including IPS officers. “A protocol officer would gather her with her at the terminal and escold her outside the building. While her luggage was subject to random and routine controls, she was never physically playful, since she was accompanied by the protocol officer.
