A jury in Cayuga, Ontario, is deliberating if Randall McKenzie and Brandy Stewart-Serry are guilty of killing the Provincial Police of Ontario. Greg Pierzchala.
Both declared innocent in the shooting on the road of December 27, 2022 of the 28 -year -old officer, who responded to the coacusado that crashed a stolen car in a ditch on the outskirts of Hagersville.
His judgment of the Superior Court began at the end of March and listened to multiple witnesses, including several who were in the shooting scene, the police involved in the response and experts in issues that include digital videos, toxicology and DNA.
The 12 jurors began to deliberate Thursday afternoon.
During the trial, Crown prosecutors argued that McKenzie shot Pierzchala, and Stewart-Serry helped him. None of the Coacusados took the position.
McKenzie’s defense told the jury that there should be reasonable doubts about whether McKenzie was the shooter captured in the officer’s body while shooting the man six times.
Stewart-Spperry’s defense argued that he was not a crime participant and that the evidence of the prosecutors of his participation was “nothing more than speculations and conjectures.”
Judge Andrew Goodman accused the jury for two days, instructing them on how to apply the law when determining his verdict. For McKenzie, the jurors only have to decide if they believed, beyond a reasonable doubt, that McKenzie was the shooter, said Goodman.
For its coacked, the jury must weigh several factors.
Justice provided members a flow diagram that took them through a series of questions and asked if Stewart-Sperry helped or encouraged the shooter to commit a first degree murder, or dedicated himself to committing another crime for which the shooting was a probable consequence.
The jury can reach several possible verdicts.

- You can find Stewart not guilty of first -degree murder, not guilty of first degree murder but guilty of involuntary homicide, or guilty of first degree murder.
The jurors could deliberate on Thursday night and continue in the following days if they have not made a decision.
