The actor Julian McMahon, known for playing Dr. Doom in the “Fantastic Four” films of the early 2000s and starring fans’ favorite programs, including “Nip/Tuck” and “Charmed”, has died. He was 56 years old.
McMahon “died peacefully this week after a brave effort to overcome cancer,” said his wife, Kelly McMahon, in a statement.
“Julian loved life. He loved his family. He loved his friends. He loved his job and loved his fans,” he said. “His deepest desire was to bring joy to as many lives as possible.
“We ask for support during this time to allow our family to cry in privacy,” he added. “And we want all those to whom Julian brought joy, continue to find joy in life. We are grateful for memories.”
The death of McMahon was also confirmed in a Facebook publication by the series “Nip/Tuck”, created by the renowned television writer Ryan Murphy.
“The television of Warner Bros. cries the loss of our friend Julian McMahon,” said the series in a publication accompanied by a photo of McMahon. “Our thoughts are with their family, friends, colleagues and fans.”
The role of McMahon as Dr. Christian Troy in “Nip/Tuck” earned him a Golden Globe nomination for the best actor in a dramatic television series. The series was broadcast on FX from 2003 to 2010, while McMahon also starred in two of the films “Fantastic Four”, “Fantastic Four” and “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer”. McMahon’s career took off in the supernatural television series “Charmed”, which co -starred with Shannon Doherty and Alyssa Milano from 2000 to 2005.
The Hollywood star was born in Sydney, Australia, on July 27, 1968 and came from a famous pair of parents.
His father, Sir William McMahon, was Australia’s prime minister from 1971 to 1972, and his mother was Sonia McMahon, a socialité and icon of Australian fashion.
In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel in 2007, McMahon said he did not remember much of his father’s days as Australia’s main politician due to his young age.
“It’s a bit different there because Australia is a smaller country, it was the 70s, everything was not so public.” said. “It was a little easier. You weren’t growing in the center of attention. The paparazzi didn’t follow you.”
In 2018, McMahon returned to Australia to star in a comedy-Drama film, “Swinging Safari”, next to the Australian star Kylie Minogue. Minogue was McMahon’s former sister -in -law of McMahon’s first marriage with the younger sister of Minogue, Dannii Minogue in the 1990s.
McMahon could have been based on his few memories of his father’s role as Australia’s main politician in recent years. He starred in the series of murder mysteries “The Residence”, playing the role of an Australian prime minister, which premiered in Netflix this year.
In addition to his wife, Kelly McMahon, with whom he married in 2014, McMahon leaves a daughter Madison of her previous marriage to the Brook Burns model.
