JUI senator submits resolution against govt’s Trump Nobel nomination – Pakistan

Senator Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), Kamran Murtaza, presented on Monday a resolution in the Senate against the government’s decision to nominate the president of the United States, Donald Trump, for the Nobel Peace Prize 2026, when Washington joined the Israel War with Iran.

The government had decided to name Trump for the prestigious prize to take his “decisive diplomatic intervention and fundamental leadership” during the Pak-Indian conflict last month, when both neighbors left the edge of war with US mediation.

In a statement, he had stressed that Trump “demonstrated a great strategic forecast and the star statesman through a solid diplomatic participation with Islamabad and New Delhi”, which finally assured a stop the fire.

However, after the United States bombarded Iran’s nuclear sites, Isfahan and Natanz, with Trump saying that they were “totally erased”, leaders from the entire political spectrum joined citizens to express their reserves.

In today’s resolution, a copy of which is available with Dawn.comSenator Murtaza said: “Pakistan’s Senate urges the Federal Government to terminate and withdraw his decision recommending the president of the United States … after bombing Iran from the United States by order of its president in violation of international law, interfering with Iran’s sovereignty, which resulted in several victims also, as one of the concerns of human rights, altering peace in the region.” “

The Jui-F leader also presented a motion under rule 218. He said that the Chamber can discuss the government’s recommendation for its “decisive diplomatic role” during the conflict “against the will of Pakistan’s people without trusting any chamber of Parliament.”

Early, an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) reaffirmed Iran’s right to self -defense after US air attacks.

A press release from the Prime Minister’s office said: “The Committee strongly condemned Israel’s aggression acts and expressed its regret that these military attacks coincided with a constructive negotiation process between Iran and the United States.

“These reckless actions have increased tensions, threatening to light a broader conflict and reduce the opportunities for dialogue and diplomacy. The NSC reaffirmed Iran’s right to self -defense as consecrated in the UN letter.”

On Sunday, the chief of Jui-F, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, demanded that the government terminate its decision.

“President Trump’s peace claim has proven to be false, the proposal of the Nobel Prize should retire,” Fazl told the workers at a meeting of parties in Murree.
