When the Bengals lost the playoffs last season, the fingers pointed to the defense as the reason why the team could not advance.
The unit occupied the 25th place in allowed points and yards, which led to the team being 9-8 despite scoring the sixth more points in the League. The defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo was fired at the end of the year and Golden was hired in an attempt to get more out of the group.
Field Marshal Joe Burrow shared a different vision of things during a recent press conference. Burrow led the league in air yards and touchdowns while completing more than 70 percent of its passes, but said it put at the height of the postseason on its shoulders.
