Lakewood, Colorado: Jett Lawrence swept the two motorcycles of Thunder Valley Motocross Park, but could not dominate since Aaron Plessinger pressed him on Moto 1 and Eli Tomac reached his rear wheel briefly briefly on motorcycle 2.
The road to victory on the second motorcycle was not easy. Jett had a bad start and fell to the sixth in the first round. Jett made his way third quickly, showed patience while Justin Cooper and Hunter Lawrence fought for leadership, and did not take a return to the midpoint.
“It was like a combination of working hard and being patient,” Jett told Will Christien from NBC Sports. “Justin (Cooper) traveled well as Eli. I was able to capitalize on some errors of the types in front of me today.”
This was the victory in his career 18 of Jett, which places him tenth in the list of all time with less than two complete seasons under his credit. Lawrence lost more than half of the 2024 season due to injury.
“I could listen to Eli right there and then listened to the fans of Colorado IR ‘Oooh’, and I knew that something had happened.”
Jett has a 25 -point advantage, a complete race, over the field.
I just passed the 15 -minute mark, Jett took the lead. Tomac followed him quickly after he also had a bad beginning of the ninth. However, for the second consecutive week, Tomac buried his front wheel while trying to close the leader’s gap. It had a large enough advantage during the third place that ended second on the second motorcycle.
“It was round trip, round trip,” Tomac told Jason Thomas. “We definitely had places on the track where we won time, we lost time. And in that turn where I crashed, just after it was the only place where I was in the third routine and was going well, I could win multiple bicycles. I basically hurried the turn before, going for everything, and climbed Flames. It was a good race, a good race with Jett.”
Plessinger scored his second consecutive podium with third place in general. Pressinger finished second on the first motorcycle and fifth in Moto 2.
“I had a very good first motorcycle, fortunately, because I really didn’t do it very well on the second motorcycle,” said Plessinger.
Cooper had a solid start and led early before being consumed by Jett and Tomac. It ended third in Moto 2, but it was only the fifth in Moto 1 to combine for the room in general.
Hunter was fourth in both motorcycles and fifth in general.
Career notes
Coty Schock won the best jump and took the field to curve 1.
Jett Lawrence had a bad start, but Eli Tomac was worse and for the second consecutive week, he will have to go through the field. Jett ends around 1 in the fifth; Octavo.
Meanwhile, on the Schock front leads Cooper Webb and Hunter Lawrence in the top three.
Cooper placed in the fourth.
On Tour 2, Hunter took the first place of Schock and brought Cooper with him.
Later that same lap, Jett moved to the third; Tomac was sixth.
Plesssinger completed the first five.
Cooper took the lead in Tour 3.
Schock faded more on Tour 3 to allow Plessinger and Tomac to move up. Six seconds separated the first five.
The bitter disappointment waited for Schock in Tour 4 when he crashed.
Tomac moved around Plessinger in Tour 4 with Jett in view of a position ahead. That was unacceptable for Jett, so he moved around Hunter per second.
Tomac moved to the third round later.
Jett was in Cooper’s rear tire on Tour 7 with a gap below a second.
Right beyond half of the brand, Jett reasumes its usual position, passing to Cooper for leadership.
Tomac takes the second place of Cooper on Tour 9. He has a 2.5 seconds gap to close in Jett.
The gap between the first and second has stabilized in the range of one to two seconds.
Copper (third), Hunter (fourth) and Pressinger complete the first five.
And for the second consecutive week, Tomac crashed while trying to close the gap in Jett. His leadership about the third was enough that he clung to the position. Tomac was nine seconds after the incident.
