Washington – The Department of National Security and the Secret Service are investigating a social media post of former FBI director James Comey that several US officials performed as the murder of President Donald Trump, said Thursday the Secretary of National Security Kristi Noem.
In a publication now eliminated on Instagram, Comey shared a photo of what he described as a “shell formation” on a beach that formed the numbers “8647”. The Post was quickly convicted by administration officials, Republican legislators and Trump’s allies who said it blatantly attacked Trump, the 47th President of the United States.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, “eighty-six” can informally mean “getting rid.”
“The former director of the FBI, James Comey, dishonored only asked for the murder of @potus Trump,” Noem wrote in X. “DHS and Secret Service is investigating this threat and will respond properly.”

A spokesman for the Secret Service, which is part of the DHS, said the agency “vigorously investigates anything that can be taken as a potential threat against our protected.”
“We are aware of the social media publications of the former director of the FBI and we take the rhetoric like this very seriously. Beyond that, we do not comment on the matters of protective intelligence,” said Anthony Guglielmi, head of communications of the agency in a statement.
Taylor Budowich, deputy director of Cabinet of the White House, accused Comey of publishing “what can clearly be interpreted as a success in the acting president of the United States.”
“This is deeply worrying for all of us and they are taking us seriously,” Budowich wrote in X.
The president’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., accused Comey of “causally calling my father to be killed.”
Comey denied that his position was a threat, saying in a statement that he did not know that people linked the specific numerical agreement with violence.
“I didn’t realize that some people associate it with violence. That didn’t occur to me when I saw it, but I oppose violence in all circumstances, so I stopped it,” he said.
The representative Tim Burchett, Republican of Tenn., Asked that Comey be arrested, while Chris Lacivita, Trump’s former campaign manager, said it would have been Comey’s house about the position.
The director of the FBI, Kash Patel, said that the office is prepared to “provide all the necessary support” to the Secret Service, which has primary jurisdiction on the investigation.
Comey was only four years old in a period of 10 years when Trump fired him in May 2017.
