Israeli forces have completed encirclement of Gaza’s Rafah, military says

The Israeli offensive in Gaza was launched after the Palestinian militant group Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people and taking 251 as hostages, according to the many Israeli.

Since then, more than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed in the offensive, according to the health authorities of the enclave directed by Hamas. Most of the population has been displaced and much of Gaza is in ruins.

Israel restarted the offensive in March after effectively abandoning a high fire in its place since January. The campaign will continue, he says, until the remaining 59 hostages are released and Hamas is taken from Gaza.

Hamas says that he will free the hostages only as part of an agreement that will end the war and has rejected the demands of leaving his arms. A delegation of Hamas was expected in Cairo during the weekend to discuss new proposals from truce, according to a group source.
