The Israeli forces have completed the rodeo of the southernmost city of Rafah de Gaza, the military said on Saturday, part of a plan announced to confiscate more areas of the enclave, accompanied by large -scale evacuations of the population.
The army has issued repeated evacuation warnings to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Rafah since it resumed operations in Gaza on March 18, which forces them to a decreasing space limited by the sea.
Israel said on April 2 that the troops had begun to take advantage of an area called the Morag axis, a reference to an old Israeli settlement that once located between the cities of Rafah and Khan Younis, in southern Gaza.
Since then, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have fled from Rafah, an area of 60 km square that limits with Egypt to the south.
“In the last 24 hours, the troops of the 36 Division completed the establishment of the Morag route, separating Rafah and Khan Younis,” the Army said on Saturday.
The Israeli offensive in Gaza was launched after the Palestinian militant group Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing about 1,200 people and taking 251 as hostages, according to the many Israeli.
Since then, more than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed in the offensive, according to the health authorities of the enclave directed by Hamas. Most of the population has been displaced and much of Gaza is in ruins.
