Two members of the Israel Embassy staff in Washington, DC, were shot dead outside the Jewish Capital Museum of the District, authorities said, in what Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations called a “depraved act of anti -Semitic terrorism.”
Four senior officials in charge of enforcing the law reported on the shooting told NBC News that a man opened fire, hitting a man and a woman. The man shouted, “free Palestine” while arrested, three senior officials in charge of enforcing the law said.
His identity has not yet been launched by the authorities.
The shots exploded when the museum was the host of an event, said Danny Danon, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, in X. “Darmlar to the Jewish community is crossing a red line,” he said.
The United States Attorney General Pam Bondi said in X that he was on the scene. She offered prayers to the victims.
“We will take this perpetrator depraved before justice,” said the Secretary of National Security, Kristi Noem, in X.
The shooting was reported in the 3rd and F streets, said the DC Metropolitan Police Department in X. The Museum, located at the foot of the Washington Field Office of the Federal Investigation Office, is dedicated to exploring the Jewish experience in the area, according to its website.
A strong presence of application of the law was seen, including the United States Capitol Police, in the area, showed a NBC Washington video.
