Israel’s air attacks arrived at the Gaza Strip on Saturday, local authorities said, hours after President Donald Trump called to stop the bombing, saying that Hamas was ready for peace.
The Israeli fire killed six people in Gaza, Reuters reported, citing officials, while Israel’s defense forces said a large part of the enclave remains a dangerous combat zone.
A strike killed four people in one house in the city of Gaza, while another killed two others in Khan Younges, authorities said.
The attacks arrived after Hamas said Friday has He agreed to free all Israeli hostages, alive or dead, and expressed his willingness to negotiate through mediators in the 20 Trump Point Plan for Peace.
Later, Trump said Israel “must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza”, writing about the social truth that Hamas was “ready for lasting peace.”
The Office of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, said on the early Saturday that Israel was preparing “to immediately implement the first phase of the Trump plan for the immediate release of all hostages.”
The residents of Gaza, who have been largely destroyed in the war of almost two years and faces a serious humanitarian crisis, responded to developments with optimism.
“It’s happy news, save those who are still alive,” said Saoud Qarneyta, 32, to Reuters.
But the attacks have continued in the enclave, and Israel’s defense forces said on Saturday that he continued surrounding Gaza City, and that “trying to return to him raises a significant risk.”
“The area north of Wadi Gaza is still considered a dangerous combat zone,” said Avichay Adraee, the Arabic spokesman of the IDF, in a position on X, referring to a valley of the river that is considered an informal divisor between the halves of the north and south of Gaza.
Israeli attacks killed at least 66 people and wounded more than 250 in the last 24 hours, Gaza’s Ministry of Health said Saturday, added that the number of deaths for death in the enclave had spent 67,000 after the addition of more than 700 people whose data had been verified.
The Gaza Ministry of Health, which is part of the government led by Hamas, does not say how many of those killed were civilian fighters, but the United Nations and other independent experts consider that their figures are reliable.
It was not clear how many of the most recent deaths took place after Trump’s announcement.
The Ministry of Health reported two deaths of children due to famine and malnutrition in the last 24 hours, which causes the total number of malnutrition deaths to 459, including 154 children, he said.
The UN help agency for the Palestinians, known as UNRWA, asked Israel to allow humanitarian aid flow to resume through the UN
The possible advance with Hamas provides “a rare window of hope” to address the suffering of more than 2 million people “with indescribable needs,” said UNHA General Commissioner, Philippe Lazzarini, in a publication on X.
On Tuesday marks the second anniversary of the beginning of the Israel-Hamas War, which began on October 7, 2023, with the terrorist attacks led by Hamas against Israel in which 1,200 people were killed and kidnapped.
Of the remaining 48 hostages in Gaza, Israel believes that 20 are still alive. According to the plan proposed by Trump, Hamas would have three days to release them.
