Islamabad SSP traffic removed after president’s motorcade strays from VVIP route – Pakistan

Islamabad: The senior superintendent of the Islamabad Traffic Police, who also took care of the security of the SSP, was withdrawn from the positions of poor supervision and management after the caravan of President Asif Ali Zardari deviated from the VVIP route in the capital.

The officers said that on Thursday night, President Zardari was scheduled to visit a family in the city of Bahria.

He, accompanied by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and others, moved to the city of Bahria from the Presidency. The VVIP caravan deviated on the highway after crossing Koral Chowk despite the fact that security measures and VVIP route were implemented. Instead of turning to the city of Bahria, the caravan moved beyond the security cord and the VVIP route.

As a result, the VVIP caravan was trapped in traffic for more than half an hour, they added.

The Interior Minister and related security agencies showed a serious concern about poor supervision and management regarding VVIP route and security.

In response, Mr. Haider was withdrawn from both offices and sent to the Office of the Central Police Islamabad to new orders.

SQN-LDR retired Abdul Haque, a 19-grade officer, received the additional position of SSP security, while Pari Gul Tareen, an officer of the 18th grade, received the additional position of the SSP Transit Police.
