Islamabad IGP seeks two weeks’ time to recover missing brothers of journalist Ahmad Noorani – Pakistan

The Inspector General of Islamabad (IGP) told the Superior Court of Islamabad (IHC) that he would need fourteen days to recover the two missing brothers of the journalist Ahmad Noorani.

Noorani, based in the United States, who works for a media called FacusHe recently published a research report on a high -ranking military official and his relatives.

The two brothers of Noorani, Muhammad Saifur Rehman Haider and Muhammad Ali, disappeared from their residence on March 19. Noorani’s mother, Amina Bashir, had presented an IHC plea for the recovery of her two brothers. On Tuesday, journalists without borders (RSF) demanded the immediate liberation of the Noorani brothers, calling it a “clear retaliation to intimidate and silence [Noorani]. “

Today’s hearing was heard by Judge Inam Ameen Minhas, while the lawyer Imaan Mazari-Hazir, who represents the petitioner, appeared before the court along with the mother and sister of Noorani.

At the beginning of the hearing, Judge Minhas asked IGP Ali Nasir Rizvi how long he would need to recover the two brothers, to which the IGP replied that he would need two weeks.

“Tame a year,” said Noorani’s mother when she appeared in the gallery.

Judge Minhas told the PPE: “He had asked the house officer to ask us and tell us.”

The PPE replied that it was supervising the matter and had formed a special investigation team under the supervision of the main superintendent of police operations.

“We have done geofencing and also obtained CDR (calling records). No one in 27 police stations or CTD has information [on the brothers’ whereabouts]”He said to court.

“We have contacted all PGIs and prisons throughout the country, but such information is not available anywhere,” he said. “We have been in contact with IGP of all provinces and seek information.”

IGP Rizvi said that the Intelligence Office (IB) has been informed and that a response from the Federal Research Agency (FIA) is expected.

“No one with these names has gone abroad,” the IGP told the court.

He added that they have verified with the chief commissioner, local districts and hospitals, but information has not appeared.

“We also review with [Rescue] 15, nothing was found, “said IGP Rizvi.” 15 has an automatic registration system, we have not received any call at this time. “

The court asked what the solution was since people had already disappeared.

“We need more time, we are doing our best,” the PGP said.

To this, Mazari said: “They are saying that the hospitals have reviewed, reviewed everything; anyone has reviewed them?”

“We have made accusations about intelligence agencies under the Ministry of Interior,” Mazari said.

Judge Minhas said: “They have been given notices, when they answer, we can see.”

“The police have taken those who had cameras,” Mazari told, to which Judge Minhas said: “Tell the police about this so that they can investigate the matter.”

“How did Islamabad leave? Where are they? This is what should be seen,” said Judge Minhas.

The lawyer Mazari asked: “Have the security houses reviewed?”

“Yesterday, another journalist was collected and then the FIA presented it [before a court]”Mazari said, referring to the journalist Waheed Murad, who was produced before an Islamabad court for the FIA after his family alleged that he was” kidnapped. “

He was subsequently sent in a two -day physical custody under the country’s cyber crime laws to publish “intimidating content” online.

Judge Minhas said it was now necessary for the Ministry of Defense to respond. He instructed the Secretary of the Ministry of Defense to present an answer at the next hearing.

“If you know Allah as a witness, tell me what would you have done if these were your children or their children?” Noorani’s mother said.

“That day I asked you, if something happened to my children, who would be responsible?” She questioned.

Given this, Mazari said: “The court must order the recovery and presentation of both missing brothers.”

Noorani’s mother repeated that she was extremely worried.

The court sought an answer and postponed the hearing until after Eidul Fitr.
