New Delhi: The choice of the Assembly in Maharashtra is made and dusty. However, there is never a boring moment in state policy with the dynamics of the alliance and the equations of power between the many factions on both sides of the division always at stake. The last thing in the ‘Maha Potboiler’ are the speculations about UDDHAV Thakeray that is heated for the Bharatiya Janata (BJP) party in the midst of the dissatisfaction of his rival Eknath Shinde inside the Mahayuti.
The Sena of Uddhav, a former BJP ally who separated from the alliance in 2014, is now damaging praise to Prime Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis. The last on the list is Tuesday’s publishing house in Saamana, spokesman Uddhav Sena. The editorial praised CM Fadnavis for “removing the powers” of the ministers to appoint personal secretaries and officers in special service (OSDS).
The publication of Saamana also dug into the deputy CM Shinde alleging that the fixers and the runners were promoted and had a free race during their mandate as CM before.
The editorial said that Shinde had also ‘complained’ to the maximum leadership of BJP against Fadnavis and praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his fight against corruption.
In early January, Saamana had also praised Fadnavis for his visit to the Gadchiroli district affected by Naxal. The recent lots of praise for Fadnavis indicate a new UDDHAV Sena approach that had previously blamed him for dividing Sena supporting Shinde.
CM Fadnavis is receiving all these applause from the UDDHAV faction in the middle of reports that rumbled at the Mahauti camp and Shinde’s discontent that is said to be asked when he was asked to take degradation and receive the position of attached CM. Both the vice president CMS, the leader of Shinde and the leader of the PNC, Ajit Pawar, also established project monitoring cells to trace the progress of the projects in the districts of which they are ministers of Guardians and those of the departments managed by ministers of their respective parties. As the CM already has its “war room” to monitor key projects, this movement was seen as both BJP allies.
Despite an existing CM Help fund for patient assistance in Maharashtra, Shinde also recently established a separate medical aid cell. He has constantly avoided participating in several meetings called by Fadnavis, in particular jumping the discussion of Nashik’s regional development authority regarding Kumbh Mela 2027 preparations. Instead, he held his own meeting in Nashik, to which BJP Minister Girish Mahajan did not attend.
After the review of Fadnavis of the Department of Industries, directed by the Minister of Shiv Sena, Uuday Samant, Shinde organized a separate evaluation. Speculation about the deterioration of relationships intensified when the Department of Origin, under Fadnavis, reduced or withdrew police protection for 20 MLA of Shiv Sena, who had received security after the Sena division in 2022.
Meanwhile, Uddhav’s Sena while increasing her attack against Shinde, has become soft on BJP.

The BJP, being the biggest game in Maharashtra, does not depend on the Shinde party to keep the government afloat. With only 14 short seats, BJP is so close to most that obtaining the numbers in their favor may not be difficult for the saffron party. In the number of numbers, the BJP does not really matter if you praise Shinde, UDDHAV, or for the case, nobody at all.
It will be interesting to see if these movements for the SENA of UDDHAV is a genuine case for Fadnavis or if the party is preparing land to explore a future bond with its former ally.
