The president of Iran, Masoud Peeshkian, landed in Islamabad on Saturday for a two -day visit, looking to reaffirm his commitment to raise annual bilateral trade with Pakistan.
Pakistan has recently expressed solidarity and a desire for cooperation with Iran, that experts say it is vital to ensure shared interests in a changing geopolitical environment.
Pezeshkian is making an official two -day visit to Pakistan during the weekend, which makes him his first trip to Islamabad in his current role, the Foreign Ministry said. Before his trip, Pakistan pledged yesterday to help calm tensions between Iran and the United States.
Dr. Pezeshkian arrived at the Nur Khan Air Base, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Vice President Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ishaq Dar, and the Minister of Information, Attaullah Tarar, received it.
He arrived before in Lahore, where the president of PML-N, Nawaz Sharif, and Punjab Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, received it.

“Through Pakistan, Iran can connect to the silk route that joins China and Pakistan, and the route can extend through Iran to Europe,” he said.
Emphasizing that security and border problems were of great importance for both Iran and Pakistan, emphasized that regional security should be achieved through cooperation, according to IRNA.
Fishshkian said that the two neighbors have “enjoyed good, friendly and deep relationships” from the independence of Pakistan. “The two countries cooperate in economic, scientific, cultural and border areas, and there is a deep link between the people of both parties,” he said.
Pezeshkian stressed that during the recent Israel-Iran War and the United States attacks against its nuclear facilities, “Pakistan was one of the countries that strongly condemned this aggression and declared their preparation to provide any necessary support for Iran’s territorial integrity, as well as for the government and people of Iran.”
