Tehran: Iran has arrested 20 people in recent months, which alleges that they are agents of the Mossad Esrael espionage, said the Judiciary on Saturday, issuing a warning that they will not face indulgence and that they will “give an example of”.
Judicial spokesman Asghar Jahangiri told journalists that charges against some of the 20 suspects were withdrawn and that they had been released, although it did not provide a specific number.
“The Judiciary will not show clemency towards spies and agents of the Zionist regime, and with firm decisions, it will make an example of all,” said Jahangiri, Iranian media.
He said that all the details would be made public once the investigations were completed.
The announcement occurs a few days after Iran executed a nuclear scientist convicted of spying on Israel.
On Wednesday, state media reported that Rouzbeh Vadi was executed for transmitting information about another nuclear scientist who was killed during Israeli air attacks in Iran in June.
Iranian executions convicted of spying on Israel have increased significantly this year, with at least eight death sentences in recent months.
Arrests follow a recent and intense conflict between the two nations.
In June, Israel carried out 12 days of air attacks in Iran.
Tehran responded with missile and drones barriers in Israel.
