Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi approved on Monday the formation of a coordination evaluation center and intelligence threats under the national terrorism authority (NACTA).
Pakistan has witnessed an increase in terrorist activities during the past year, especially in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and Baluchistan, after the proscribed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its high fire with the government in November 2022.
Naqvi presided over the fifth meeting of the Board of Governors of Nacta in Islamabad. The session focused on critical decisions aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s anti -terrorism framework.
Nacta’s national coordinator Khalid Chauhan gave detailed information about the performance and plans of the authority.
One of the most significant results of the meeting was the approval for the establishment of the National Fusion Evaluation Center and Intelligence Threats (NIFTAC).
The new center, which was developed after exhaustive consultations with interested parties, will serve as a specialized center for intelligence coordination and threat analysis.
Naqvi stressed that the creation of Nifac was a vital step to achieve the strategic objectives of NACTA. He said that similar centers called Pifacs will be established in all provincial capitals to reinforce regional intelligence efforts.
The NIFTAC establishment is expected to guarantee the effective implementation of the National Action Plan (NAP) and address emerging security challenges.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of State of the Interior Talal Chaudhry together with senior government officials, including senators Manzoor Ahmed and put Mal Galtist
Chaudhry emphasized that NIFTA would improve NACTA’s operational capacity, so it is a more solid institution in the fight against terrorism.
All recommendations presented by Chauhan were unanimously approved by the Board of Governors.
The decisions taken were prepared to significantly strengthen the internal security apparatus and advance the anti -terrorism strategy.
