Canada’s inflation rate reached 1.7 percent in May, without changes since the previous month, Statistics Canada said Tuesday.
The agency points to slower increases in refuge costs such as rent and mortgages as an important factor that maintains the lowest inflation.
Statscan says that Ontario saw a relief of income as a result of the slower population and a jump in the new supply compared to past spring.
The elimination of consumer carbon price continues to temperate annual inflation in gas pumps.
Statscan says that the cost of a new accelerated vehicle in May, increasing 4.9 percent per year, thanks in large part to more expensive electric vehicles.
The basic inflation figures also showed signs of modern flexibility, something that the Canada Bank will pay close attention, since it prepares for its next interest rate decision on July 30.
More to come.
