Indonesian defence minister expresses Jakarta’s desire to boost defence ties with Pakistan – Pakistan

Indonesia Defense Minister, LT Gen (retired) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin expressed the desire of his country to boost defense ties and explore the possible collaboration in defense production while meting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday.

Pakistan and Indonesia maintain strong bilateral relations rooted in shared religion and culture, with both countries that cooperate in commerce, education and health.

General Sjamsoeddin asked Prime Minister Shehbaz in the prime minister’s office today, where he reiterated Indonesia’s desire to “further strengthen defense ties with Pakistan and explore possible areas for cooperation, especially in defense production,” according to a statement from PID administered by the Government.

The Indonesian Minister transmitted the best wishes of President Pabowo Subianto for Prime Minister and the People of Pakistan, added the press release.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz “reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to explore and expand collaboration with Indonesia in joint investment companies in mutually beneficial projects,” said the statement.

The prime minister also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to improve bilateral cooperation with Indonesia on all ways, including economic, strategic and commercial sectors, together with the production of defense and defense.

He stressed that Pakistan and Indonesia enjoyed a “long -standing friendly friendship in the shared cultural, religious and historical ties, which support each other in international forums.”

Both parties emphasized the importance of “improving multifaceted bilateral cooperation,” according to the PID.

“The meeting stressed the historical, fraternal and friendly bilateral relations of Prokistan and Indonesia,” said the statement.

Remembering his meeting last year with the president of Indonesia, Pabowo Subianto, regardless of the 8th Development Summit in Cairo, Prime Minister Shehbaz transmitted his best wishes for the Indonesian President.

The prime minister also reviewed ongoing initiatives under the Pakistan-Indonesian Defense Cooperation Agreement and agreed to “accelerate the implementation of key areas of mutual interest,” added the PID.

General Sjamsoeddin later met in the head of the Army personnel of the Army also at the General Headquarters.

Both parties exchanged points of view on bilateral defense collaboration, regional security dynamics and roads to further strengthen military ties.

“The meeting stressed the long friendship and cooperation between the two countries. The Marshal of Campo highlighted the importance of mutual cooperation in the maintenance of peace and stability in the region,” said a press release from public relations between services.

General Sjamsoeddin appreciated the role of Pakistan’s army in the fight against terrorism and reaffirmed the commitment of Indonesia to improve defense relations with Pakistan.

In June, the two countries decided to increase cooperation in areas such as the production of vaccines in Pakistan, the establishment of medical institutions in Indonesia, pharmaceutical development and human resources exchange.

Last year, the Indonesian position of the affairs Rahmat Hindiarta organized an exclusive dinner for Pakistani business leaders and their spouses in the Indonesian embassy to improve bilateral finances and commercial relations.
