Houston: Research aimed at paving the way for people with insulin dependent diabetes Traveling to space is one of the most fascinating tasks that are entrusted to India Captain of the Shubhanshu Shukla group and three other astronauts that are prepared for the Axiom-4 mission (AX4) that will take them to the International Space Station (ISS) at the end of this year.
In an exclusive interview with Toi at the headquarters of the Axiom Space in Houston, Texas, Ax4 mission The manager Byran Mitchell said that the research project, called “Ride Suite Ride”, was about “expanding the possibilities and allowing the inclusion of a group of people and population that has traditionally been excluded from the space environment.”
“We are attacking this problem in three ways,” Mitchell said. First it is to make them obtain calibrated data of blood glucose monitoring. The second is to capture that data on the orbit of crew members. The final step is to take that data to the ground to allow medical professionals to evaluate them.
Mitchell said that the diverse and multinational team would contribute unique perspectives on this flight, with “shux” (Shukla’s call sign for mission) that is responsible for research centered on the science of life. “One is to investigate the effects of microgravity on mycology, which is important, since it could have possible future applications in uses such as food, fuel and life support systems. The second experiment that is working to achieve is to investigate the viability of six seeds of different crops for future space flight applications.”
Toi visited the mission control room and the facilities where Axiom is building its space station, but could not talk to Shukla or the captain of the Prashanth Nair group, the second training of Indian astronauts with Axiom as its support, due to the ISRO protocol.
