A team of high power led by Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari met Tuesday with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) officials to inform them about Pakistan’s position following the recent conflict with India after the attack of the Pahalgama.
The high -level team, consisting of three former ministers of foreigners, two former Secretaries of Foreign Affairs, two former United States ambassadors and a federal service minister, arrived in New York on Sunday for consultations at the United Nations.
The delegation will also visit Washington DC, London and Brussels.
Former PPP president of FMS, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Hina Rabbani Khar and Khurram Dastgir; Sherry Rehman, Musadik Malik, Faisal Sabzwari and Bushra Anjum Butt; and Jalil Abbas Jilani and Tehmina Janjua are members of the delegation.
According to a press release, Bilawal, by addressing the permanent representatives of the IIC, “categorically rejected India’s attempt to link Pakistan with the Pahalgam incident without any credible research or evidence.”
He stressed that the fault was “used as a pretext for illegal military actions, including cross -border strikes, which attacked civilians and civil infrastructure.”
The president of the PPP expressed concern about the movement of India to suspend the Treaty of the Water of the Indo, which Pakistan considered “a flagrant act of water closet and a violation of international and treaty obligations.”

He continued that the president of the PPP emphasized that “due to the belligerent aggression of India, the world has become a less safe place, with real and present implications for peace and security in southern Asia.”
The former Foreign Minister thanked the IIC for his efforts and his role aimed at mediation to decline the tensions between the two neighbors with nuclear weapons, highlighting that the “only path to peace is dialogue, commitment and diplomacy.”

Meanwhile, the permanent representatives of the OIC countries expressed their “appreciation for the transparent and timely information of Pakistan and reaffirmed their solidarity with Pakistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
“They reiterated their concern about the worsening of the security situation in southern Asia and emphasized the importance of defending the principles of the UN Charter and International Law and, in this sense, the holiness of the treaties, including the Indo Water Treaty,” the statement added.
The delegation also held a meeting with the President of the United Nations Security Council for the month of June, Ambassador Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, the permanent representative of the Republic of Guyana.
The delegation emphasized that before an increasing trend of unilateralism and climbing, the UNSC must play its crucial role to guarantee peace and conflict resolution.
He urged the UNSC to play a proactive role in promoting decallation, guaranteeing respect for international law and treaties and facilitating the peaceful resolution of disputes, including Jammu and Kashmir’s dispute in line with the resolutions of the Council.
Ambassador Rodrigues-Birkett reaffirmed the commitment of the Council to defend international peace and security according to his mandate.
Previously, the Pakistani delegation of nine members held a series of meetings at the UN Headquarters. They were involved with envoys from the permanent members of the Security Council, starting with the Chinese ambassador Fu Cong.
