India to help build new Parliament in Mauritius as ‘gift from mother of democracy’: PM Modi | India News


Nueva Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mauricio Prime Minister Pravind playouth signed eight comprehension memorandes (MOU) on Wednesday to strengthen cooperation in banking, trade, security and governance.
When announcing an update in the bilateral ties, Prime Minister Modi said: “Today, Prime Minister Navin Chandra Ramgoolam and I decided to give the Indian-Mouriic Association the state of” Improved Strategic Association. “We decided that India will cooperate in the construction of the new Parliament building in Mauricio. This will be a gift for Mauritius of the mother of the mother of the democratic.”

The agreements were completed during a bilateral meeting between the two leaders. Highlighting the deep historical and cultural ties, Prime Minister Modi added: “India and Mauricio are connected not only by the Indian Ocean but also by culture and shared values. We are partners of others on the path of economic and social progress.”

Prime Minister Modi also highlighted Mauricio’s role in the regional scope of India and announced a new initiative for the global south. “Whether the global south, the Indian Ocean or the African continent, Mauricio is our important partner. Key Mous signed between India and Mauricio:

  • Local currency liquidation system: Agreement between him India Reserve Bank and the Central Bank of Mauricio to facilitate the trade of local currencies.
  • Credit ease agreement: A pact between the Government of Mauricio and the State Bank of India to finance water infrastructure projects under the pipe replacement program.
  • Training program for diplomats: Collaboration between the Indian Foreign Service Institute and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mauricio.
  • Maritime Security Cooperation: Technical agreement on the exchange of white shipping information between the Indian Navy and the Mauricio Police force.
  • Financial crime prevention: Mou between the Control Directorate of India and the Commission of Financial Crimes of Mauricio.
  • MSME collaboration: Association between the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of India and the Ministry of Industry, SME and Cooperativas de Mauricio.
  • Governance Training: Agreement between the National Center for Good Government (India) and the Mauricio Ministry of Public Service to train public officials.
  • Ocean research cooperation: Mou between the National Center for Oceanic Information Services of India and the Maritime Administration of Mauricio.
