New Delhi: India on Wednesday abruptly rejected the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) Report, calling the panel a “concern entity.”
By calling the report, politically biased and motivated, the Ministry of External Affairs said that the USCirf report “continues its pattern of emission of biased and politically motivated evaluations.”
“We have seen the recently published 2025 annual report of the Commission of the International Religious Freedom Commission of the United States (USCIRF), which once again continues its pattern of emission of biased and politically motivated evaluations,” said the spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal.
The Ministry also said: “The persistent attempts of the USCIRF of misrepresenting isolated incidents and throw sprinkles on the vibrant multicultural society of India reflect a deliberate agenda instead of a genuine concern for religious freedom.”
The government said the report “undermines India’s position as a lighthouse of democracy and tolerance.”
“India houses 1,400 million people who adhere to all religions known to humanity. However, we do not expect the USCIRF to be involved with the reality of the Pluralist framework of India or recognizes the harmonious coexistence of its various communities. Concern,” said the Ministry of External Affairs.
Nueva Delhi had also previously rejected the USCirf report as biased, without objectivity, and an interference in the sovereignty of India, since USCIRF actions are politically motivated, often influenced by geopolitical considerations instead of a fair evaluation.
It is alleged that the USCIRF methodology is defective, depending on unreliable sources by ignoring the constitutional protections of India for religious freedom.
