India and China have made a round of conversations about the resumption of direct passenger air services, but dates have not yet been solved, New Delhi said Monday, since relationships continued to defrost five years after a deadly border clash.
The neighbors agreed in January to resolve commercial and economic differences, in a movement that is expected to boost their aviation sectors, particularly those of China, which has been left behind other countries in the rebound of the Covid pandemic.
“The Ministry of Civil Aviation and our counterpart in China have had a round of meetings,” said Civil Aviation Secretary Vumlunang Vualnam at a conference organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce in New Delhi.
There were still some problems to solve, he added, without going into details.
The relations were grouped between India and China following the 2020 clash between the troops along its border in the Himalayas, which killed at least 20 Indian soldiers and four Chinese.
India imposed restrictions on the Chinese companies that invest in the country, banned hundreds of popular applications and reduced passenger routes, although direct flight flights continued.
Relations have improved from an agreement in October to relieve a military confrontation at the mountainous border, the same month as President Xi Jinping and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held conversations in Russia.
