The founder of PTI, Imran Khan, said in a “clear message” to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s prime minister, Ali Amin Gandapur, on Saturday that the Federation should not be able to perform another military operation in the province and its tribal areas.
Earlier this week, security forces, backed by helicopters and artillery, launched ‘Operation Sarbakaf’ against terrorists in Lowi Mamund Tehsil and imposed a touch of three days in the region. A day after he and his group came out all the weapons burning against the military offensive, CM Gandapur seemed to throw his full weight behind a “directed operation” against the militants. His statement entered into contrast to the issued Tuesday night after a parliamentary meeting of PTI, in which he promised to take strict measures, such as the withdrawal of the action in the aid of the Civil Power Regulations 2011.
Although CM Gandapur made a change of meaning, his party, the ruling PTI, had denounced the operation of Bajaur, claiming that the decision ignored the constitutionally chosen government and was nothing more than a “dangerous repetition of past errors.”
In an Imran message published today on his X account, which is not operated by him, the former private said regarding any KP operation: “I transmit a clear message to Ali Amin that the Federation should not be able to perform another military operation in KP and the tribal areas.
“The confrontation between the army and people destroy the institution of the army. Operations are not a solution to any problem. Problems must be solved through dialogue according to the system there. Afghanistan is our neighboring Muslim country. Relationships with them must also be improved, and problems must be addressed through discussions.”
Responding to the instructions of the founder of the party from his personal account, Gandapur said that taking into account Imran’s thought, he had housed today the first of several jirgas about the restoration of the law and order in the province.
Gandapur had announced earlier this week that a series of Jirgas would be convened to decide on future steps about a wide range of concerns among the residents of the province.
In a publication about X, a statement by the CM office said the regional jirgas began today and were attended by tribal elders and elected public representatives of the districts of Khyber and Orakzai, as well as representatives of the tribal subdivisions of Darra Adam Khel and Hassan Khel.
He added that 150 tribal elders from the aforementioned areas, six MPA, three amn and a senator participated in the jirga.
The statement added that the CM Advisor on information, the main secretary of the KP, the inspector General of Police and commissioners and commissioners attached were also present at the Jirga.
The statement listed the recommendations made by the Jirga, such as guaranteeing the unity against terrorism to restore peace, as well as declare that displacement in the middle of the military operation was “unacceptable under any circumstance.”
“Development is linked to peace and will accelerate when peace is restored,” the statement said. “No one has asked for any appeal, including minerals, nor has anyone been given, nor will it be given to anyone.
“The tribal elders have recommended the Federal Government to make arrangements to send a jirga of the provincial government and the tribal elders for negotiations with Afghanistan,” the statement added.
The statement said the Jirga should receive resources and cooperation to achieve this, and added that the next regional Jirga will be carried out in the districts of Mohmand and Bajaur. A third jirga will take place in Waziristán Norte and Sur, while the fourth would be convened in the Kurram district.
There were no dates for the jirgas in this statement.
“Immediately after regional jirgas, a Grand Jirga will be held under the presidency of the principal minister,” the statement added.
