IHC CJ warns Imaan Mazari of contempt of court proceedings over alleged ‘dictator’ remark – Pakistan

It is not clear to what instance of Mazari he called him dictator to which the judge referred.

In response to the judge, Mazari said: “I have not said anything beyond the jurisdiction of the law and the Constitution. If you want to initiate contempt for judicial procedures, then do it. The Constitution has given me the right to freedom of expression, which is what I have used.”

Going to the husband of Mazari, the president of the Supreme Court of the IHC said: “Hadi Sahib, make her understand; if I have one day …”

Mazari then joked: “If we are in a stage in which the courts will threaten the lawyers, continue with contempt of court [proceedings]. “

It is known that Mazari is a vowel in his criticism of the Pakistani authorities. Previously, she was among the voices that requested an investigation into the accusations made by six IHC judges against interference in judicial affairs for the country’s intelligence apparatus in March.

Separately, an anti -terrorism court (ATC) in Quetta today extended the physical return of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other organizers of the Balochjehti committee at the request of the Police.

Mahrang, together with other byc members, was arrested on March 22 for the position of “attacking” the Civil Hospital Quetta and “incite people to violence.” The arrests were made a day after the group faced a police repression while protested against forced disappearances.
