Dubai: The International Cricket Council (ICC) thanked the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday for “successfully hosting” the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy.
In a press release, the Global Sports Government body also thanked Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) for the staging of the Indian tournament matches.
India played his games in Dubai after the country’s government refused to send his team to Pakistan, the original hosts of the tournament. Playing their five games, including a semifinal and the final, in the place, the men of Rohit Sharma affirmed the title of Champions Trophy for the third time after defeating New Zealand for four Wickts on Sunday.
The event, which took place from February 19 to March 9, saw Pakistan organize his first Cricket World Tournament since 1996. The tournament was organized in four places: Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi in Pakistan and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
“We would like to thank and congratulate the Cricket Board of Pakistan for successfully organizing the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025,” said CPI Executive President Geoff Alladice.
“Since this was the first global multi-team Cricket event played in the country since 1996, this event was of great importance for the PCB, and all involved in the renewal of the stadiums, preparing the game surfaces, delivering the games and organizing the teams and visitors should be very proud of their efforts.”
The CPI statement occurs two days after the PCB launched a formal protest, seeking from the first public apology for its “discarded contempt for the role of Pakistan as the host nation.”
In his complaint, the PCB had called the ICC for not including the Board’s Operations Director, also the Trophy Trophy Director of the Champions Trophy, at the ceremony after the final party.
In view of the PCB, the incident was one of the “repeated errors” of the ICC, which included the absence of the name of Pakistan in the official logo of the Champions Trophy in the live Feed of the group of the group stage between India and Bangladesh, as well as part of the Indian national anthem that is being played at the Gaddafi stadium ahead of the game. The ICC has not yet responded to the complaints of the PCB, despite the credibility of the body under the radar.
“Repeated errors of the CPI, the double standard and the selective government have thrown serious doubts about their credibility,” said a PCB spokesman Sunrise Mondays. “By marking the host nation in its own tournament, the governing body has once again shown a worrying lack of neutrality and justice.”
