Hillary Clinton. Joe Biden. Rosie O’Donnell. President Donald Trump has a long list of enemies, and this weekend added another: a painting of himself.
In a publication about his real social platform, Trump criticized on Sunday a portrait of himself that hangs in the Capitol of the State of Colorado and demanded the state governor.
“No one likes a bad image or painting of themselves, but that of Colorado, in the State Capitol, presented by the governor, along with all the other presidents, was distorted at a level to a level that even me, maybe I had never seen before,” Trump said in a long publication.
The president added that “he would prefer not to have a photo than to have this.”
Shelby Wieman, spokesman for the governor of Colorado, Jared Polis, a Democrat, said the governor “was surprised to know that the president of the United States is an amateur of our State Capitol of Colorado and his work of art.”
“We appreciate the president and interest of all in our Capitol building and we always look for any opportunity to improve our experience of visitors,” Wieman continued, noting that the state capitol also includes portraits of former presidents and former governors.
The artist, Sarah Boardman, has painted portraits of a series of prominent figures, including former presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush, which appear on their website. Trump said in his publication that Obama’s portrait “looks wonderful.”
Trump’s portrait is Oil On Canvas and was presented in 2019, according to the Boardman website. Boardman said on his website that “he had the honor of being commissioned to paint” Trump’s portrait.
“Thanks to all the dignitaries, personal, donors and visitors who attended and made this a wonderful event!” He said in a legend of the portrait on his website, referring to the portrait presentation event. “Feeling very grateful for this opportunity.”
Boardman did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
