Denver – The husband of a woman who disappeared on Mother’s Day 2020 will appear in the Court in Colorado on Tuesday for the first time since she was again accused of murder in her death.
Barry Morphew was arrested on June 20 in Arizona after being recently accused of the death of Suzanne Morphew, three years after the initial case was withdrawn due to prosecution problems with evidence.
The authorities announced on Monday that he had reached jail in the small city of Alamosa in the south of Colorado, not far from where the skeletal remains of Suzanne Morphew were found outside a dirt road in September 2023.
His remains were accidentally discovered when the authorities were looking for another missing woman a year after prosecutors eliminated their initial Morphew prosecution.
A 2024 autopsy report said that Suzanne Morphew died of “un specified media,” but dictated his death as homicide. While their remains showed no trauma signs, the researchers found in their bone marrow a drug cocktail used to reassure wildlife for which her husband had a recipe, according to the accusation.
Barry Morphew has maintained his innocence since his wife disappeared.
Two lawyers that appear in judicial documents that represent Morphew at the Audience on Tuesday, David Beller and Jane Fisher-Beialsen, did not immediately respond telephone or email messages in search of comments. Beller has previously criticized prosecutors for allowing “his predetermined conclusion to lead his search for evidence.”
The mystery surrounding Suzanne Morphew began when the mother of two 49 -year -old daughters, who lived near the small mountainous community, Colorado, was reported as missing on Mother’s Day 2020.
His mountain bike and his helmet were found in separate places not far from their home, but the researchers suspected that the bicycle was thrown into a ravine because there were no indications of an accident. A week after his wife disappeared, Barry Morphew posted a video on Facebook begging his safe return and the case quickly caught his attention.
In May 2021, prosecutors accused him of murder. Subsequently they left the case in 2022 just when Morphew was about to be judged.
A judge had prohibited prosecutors from calling key witnesses after lawyers could not repeatedly follow the rules to deliver evidence in favor of Morphew.
The last case is being prosecuted by a different prosecutor in a separate judicial district where the remains of Suzanne Morphew were found, a rural area about 40 miles south of the Morphews house.
The researchers found on the site a port through which Suzanne Morphew could receive medications to treat follicular lymphoma, a type of blood cancer it had. They also found cycling clothes similar to what was known to wear.
According to the condition of the remains and clothing, a forensic anthropologist theorized that the body was probably broken down before being transferred to the site, according to Morphew’s new accusation.
