Authorities are investigating after multiple body parts, including human legs, washed up on a Southern California coast.
NBC Los Angeles reported on the first find, a human leg, which was discovered by a family on Christmas morning off the coast of Palos Verdes Estates.
More human remains were found Thursday in the same area, near the 6800 block of Paseo del Mar, police told the outlet.
A second leg was found by a beachgoer shortly before 1 p.m. and a femur was found shortly after during a search of the area, police said.
Multiple attempts by NBC News to contact Palos Verdes Estates police on Friday afternoon were unsuccessful.
After the leg was found on Christmas, police used dogs trained to detect human remains and searched the area, NBC LA reported.
No evidence has linked the findings to two fishermen who disappeared Tuesday in the same area.
Aaron Belda of Palos Verdes Estates police told NBC LA that investigators are “not ruling anything out” and “considering all possibilities.”
Police also have not linked the body parts found this week to a skull and bone found in November on the same beach, a short distance away, the outlet reported.
Palos Verdes Estates is about 25 miles south of Santa Monica.
