Hudson Meek, 16-year-old actor from ‘Baby Driver,’ dies after falling from moving vehicle

Hudson Meek, a teen actor best known for his work on “Baby Driver,” died after falling from a moving vehicle in Alabama, authorities said. I was 16 years old.

Meek suffered blunt force injuries when he fell from the motor vehicle in his hometown of Vestavia Hills, the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office told NBC News on Thursday. He was wounded on December 19 and died at UAB Hospital on Saturday.

The Vestavia Hills Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, the office said. The incident occurred in the 1900 block of Canyon Road in Vestavia Hills, a southern suburb of Birmingham.

A post on Meek’s Instagram account on Saturday read: “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight.”

Meek played “Young Baby” in the 2017 Edgar Wright action film “Baby Driver,” playing a younger version of the title character, played by Ansel Elgort.

A post on his social media account said there will be a celebration of life on Saturday, which will be streamed online. There will be a scholarship fund in his memory at Vestavia Hills High School. where he was a sophomore, his family said in an obituary.

“His 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and significantly impacted everyone he met,” the post on Meek’s Instagram account read.

“May you shine forever Hud. We will miss you deeply,” wrote the performing arts academy. “Please join us in praying for his incredible family during this difficult time.”

Meek recently had television roles on NBC’s “Found” and National Geographic’s “Genius.” He also played “Bully Boy” in the 2016 film “Providence,” a romantic drama that won best ensemble at the 2016 Christian Film Festival.

His family said in an obituary that Meek died surrounded by family and friends. He was an organ donor, they said.

“His family is comforted knowing that he will continue to help others for years to come,” the obituary reads.
