The Pakistan Human Rights Commission (HRCP) on Sunday strongly condemned the “murder of three individuals” in the Bajaur district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in an “alleged attack related to honor” earlier this week.
Last week, the War Mamond Police Station officer, Niaz Mohammad, said a suspect allegedly killed a 28 -year -old married woman and then killed a 33 -year -old man. He added that the suspect’s shots also hit a 70 -year -old woman, who was declared dead at the Hospital of the District headquarters, Khar, after suffering serious injuries.
The police officer, who visited the site of the incident, said the suspect fled after committing the crime, saying that it was said that the 28 -year -old was the murderer’s relative. However, he had said that efforts were being made to arrest the alleged murderer after registering a case against him.
According to a statement issued today by the HRCP, the organization strongly condemned the murder of three people in the District of Bajaur.
“Such acts of violence are a serious violation of the right to life and reflect the deeply entrenched patriarchal norms,” the statement said.
In a publication on X, the organization urged the authorities to carry out thorough and impartial investigation, ensuring that perpetrators are responsible for the law and that the incident is treated as a crime not composed.
“The State must become part of those cases,” he said.
In Pakistan, honor murders continued to claim the lives of women throughout 2024, perpetuated by deeply rooted social beliefs about family dignity and shame.
The data of the Pakistan Human Rights Commission (HRCP) show that in 2024, the murders of ‘Honor’ continued to be a serious problem in all Pakistan, with particularly high figures in Sindh and Punjab. From January to November, a total of 346 people were victims of “honoring” crimes in the country.
