New Delhi: only a few hours later Vanuatu Jotham Napat Prime Minister He ordered the cancellation of the Lalit Modi passport, the former IPL chief shared impressive images of the island nation, calling him a “heavenly country” and urging people to visit.
“Vanuatu is a beautiful country. You must put it on your desire list. Far from all pollution and noise. Truly Heavenly Country,” Modi wrote, apparently immutable for the storm that his citizenship is won.
Vanuatu PM drops the hammer
Early, Prime Minister Napat ordered the citizenship commission to revoke Modi’s passport, citing concerns that the former Fugitive Ex-Dicket administrator tried to dodge extradition.
Modi, who fled from India in 2010 and has been living in London, had submitted a request on March 7 before the High Indian Commission in London to deliver his Indian passport. His citizenship of Vanuatu, once a safe shelter, now seems to be at risk.
Interpol’s rejection raises the eyebrows
What makes the case even darker is that despite the efforts of India, Interpol has twice rejected requests to issue an alert notice against Modi, citing a “lack of substantive judicial evidence.”
“While all standard background verifications, including Interpol evaluations, made during their request showed no criminal convictions, in the last 24 hours I have realized that Interpol twice rejected the requests of the Indian authorities,” said Vanuatu’s Prime Minister in a statement.
