Hong Kong to open universities to more foreign students after US ban – World

Hong Kong has said that he will open his universities to more international students, highlighting those affected by the move of the United States government this week to prevent Harvard from registering foreign citizens.

The strong escalation in the long dispute of the president of the United States, Donald Trump, with the prestigious university occurred when the tensions over low heat between Washington and Beijing about trade and other issues.

The decision of the Trump administration on Thursday, which was temporarily arrested by a judge of the United States after Harvard demanded, has launched the future of thousands of foreign students and the lucrative flow of income they provide in doubt.

On Friday, the Secretary of Education of Hong Kong, Christine Choi, asked the universities of the Chinese city to welcome “outstanding students around the world.”

“For international students affected by the United States Student Admission policy, the Office of Education (EDB) has appealed to all universities in Hong Kong to provide facilitation measures for eligible students,” Choi said in a statement, pointing out the prohibition of the admission of international Harvard students.

She said that local universities were using government measures, including relaxation of the maximum limits of foreign students to attract Hong Kong more.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology invited international students enrolled in Harvard on Friday, as well as any person with offers to attend the elite school, to continue their studies at HKust.

“Hkust is extending this opportunity to ensure that talented students can pursue their educational objectives without interruption,” he said in a statement.

The University “will provide unconditional offers, simplified admission procedures and academic support to facilitate a perfect transition to interested students,” he added.

Harvard occupies the number one position in the most recent list of US News and World Report of the best universities in the world, while Hkust has 105 of more than 2,000 classified.

President Trump is furious with Harvard for rejecting the impulse of his administration for admissions supervision and hiring in the midst of his statements that school is a seedbed of antisemitism and “awake” liberal ideology.

An American judge arrested on Friday the movement of the administration to prevent Harvard from admitting foreign students after the university demanded, qualifying the illegal government’s action.

The US Secretary of National Security. UU., Kristi Noem, said Thursday that the administration’s decision would hold Harvard “for promoting violence, anti -Semitism and coordination with the Chinese Communist Party on his campus.”

Beijing condemned the “politicization of educational cooperation”, added that Washington’s measure “would only damage the international image and position of the United States.”

Around 1,300 Chinese students are enrolled in Harvard, around a fifth of their international students, according to university data.

Hundreds of thousands more attend other US colleges and universities. UU., Visas by many in China as headlights of academic freedom and rigor.
