Jan Suraj Party Chief Prashant Kishor described the WAQF amendment bill on Wednesday an attempt at political polarization and also attacked Bihar Prime Minister, Niten Kumar, for supporting it.
Speaking to Ani, Kishor said the bill is being pushed without taking into account the affected communities. He pointed out that many Muslims feel threatened for it and criticized the Government for hurrying legislation.
“It is unfortunate … If the changes affect any section, they must be taken in confidence. Many Muslims feel threatened. The government is hurrying this for polarization policy,” Kishor said.

Kishor did not stop at his attack against Bihar Prime Minister Nithis Kumar. He argued that the BJP does not consider Muslims their voting bank, but leaders such as Nitish Kumar claim to support the community while supporting the laws that damage them. He accused Kumar of hypocrisy, saying that despite invoking leaders such as Mahatma Gandhi, Ram Manohar Lohia and Jayaprakash Narayan, Kumar is helping BJP approve a bill that many Muslims oppose.
“The Government does not have a majority in the Lok Sabha. If leaders like Nithis Kumar refuse to support this bill, it cannot become law. When the story is written, the fault of this law will fall more in leaders such as Niten Kumar than in the BJP,” Kishor said.
Last week, Kishor also participated in a protest against the WAQF amendment bill organized by the Muslim Personal Law Board of All India (AIMPLB) in Gardanibagh in Patna.
His party, Jan Suraaj, has been trying to appeal to Muslim voters presenting himself as an alternative to the RJD. He affirms that Muslims vote for RJD for fear of BJP and accuses JD (U) of Nithis Kumar to betray them.
The WAQF amendment bill will be presented at Lok Sabha on Wednesday. The bill has faced resistance from opposition parties and Muslim organizations such as AIMPLB. Despite the opposition, the NDA has a majority in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, which makes its step probable.
