Mumbai: An international report has found that although nine Indian cities, including Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, focus on the immediate responses to heat waves, long -term interventions remain scarce and, where they exist, they are inadequate.
“Without effective long -term strategies, India is likely to witness a greater number of deaths related to heat due to the most frequent, intense and prolonged heat waves in the coming years,” warns the study, in co -authorship of sustainable academics of Futures Collaborative, King’s College London, Harvard University, University and University and University of California, Berkeley.
