New Yorkers should prepare for another high electricity bill next month, since another heat and humidity wave involves the city this week.
The National Meteorological Service issued a warm notice for New York City on Monday and Tuesday that warned of the heat index of up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit.
“These conditions are dangerous to health,” said NYC NYC alert. The most at risk are those without air conditioning, people with chronic health conditions and people who work outside.
The Heat will start building during the night on Sunday until Monday morning and will continue until at least Wednesday, with heat notices during the next three days, said the National Meteorological Service in a prognosis discussion of the area.
The heat notices for New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts are also in place, the NWS said.
It is expected that heat rates in southern Jersey, near Philadelphia, reach 100 to 105 degrees, with the potential to be higher, said an argument in the NWS area of Mount Holly, New Jersey.
It is expected that Boston, also under a heat warning, in front of heat rates in the 90s from mid to superiors, according to the NWS.
On Monday, the heat will also be leaked south and more west, with possible temperature records in Gainesville, Florida; Denver; New Orleans; and Charlotte, North Carolina.
A cold front will move on Wednesday night, bringing possible showers, to break the beginning of the week, according to the NWS discussion.
In total, 123 million people are under heat alerts during the first half of the week, with some alerts in force until at least Wednesday.
The heat was strengthened on the plains and the southeast of the United States on Sunday, with conditions that feel like 110-115 degrees.
Numerous cities were 3 degrees from a daily record temperature on Sunday afternoon, including: Denver; Savannah, Georgia; Jacksonville, Miami and Orlando, Florida; Charlotte; and Charleston, South Carolina.
