Hammad Azhar steps down from PTI office for 3rd time – Pakistan

The interim president of PTI Punjab, Hammad Azhar, took X on Wednesday to announce his resignation of his position within the party, the third time he has done so.

Last August, Azhar resigned as president of the Punjab chapter of the party citing a lack of access to former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Azhar had previously resigned to the role in March, citing his legal tribulations and the obstacles they presented when doing their duties.

PTI’s leadership rejected his resignation in both cases.

In a long publication about X, Azhar announced his resignation citing statements that he was being accused of obstructing the work of other party members. In addition, he added that there was a lack of freedom to control his constituency.

“Yesterday, Khan Sahib [PTI founder Imran Khan] It was informed by [fellow party leader] Azam Swati that [another fellow party member] Alia Hamza was being obstructed in her work. When Khan Sahib He asked who was obstructing her, Azam Swati mentioned my name, ”Azhar wrote.

“I asked Alia Bibi What obstruction had I found me? She expressed surprise and said she had always received support from me and was worried about what this matter was transmitted to Khan Sahib, ”he added.

By stating that he had a “very simple solution to the problem,” Azhar wrote that the power of Punjab chapter had been transmitted and granted to four regional presidents personally designated by Imran.

“Work in my constituency cannot be done with my advice or consent,” Azhar wrote.

The PTI leader highlighted his last two attempts to give up his position, which had been rejected, and added that he had done a lot for the party amid the founder’s imprisonment.

“I witnessed most of the problems of the general elections of the party in the most difficult circumstances, while I was illegally excluded from the elections,” he said, added that he participated in demonstrations and meetings despite the risk of being arrested.

“During this time, I faced innumerable difficulties of the authorities, my business was damaged and my children were exiled for more than a year. But these sacrifices and difficulties are no more important than our goal,” Azhar continued.

“I did everything I could and now, as a worker, I will work for my future leader,” he wrote, referring to Imran and added that the resignation was irreversible.

Azhar also resigned from the office of the secretary general of PTI Punjab.

PTI Azhar Mashwani’s activist fellow told him Dawn.com That Azhar had received the interim position of the president of Punjab from the party instead of Yasmin Rashid, since he was in jail.

Reacting to the announcement, the leader of PTI and leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Omar Ayub Khan, shared a position on X, writing that Azhar worked very hard and should be “proud of his efforts.”
