Gurugram police deploy over 2,000 cops ahead of New Year celebrations | India News

GURUGRAM: The Gurugram police have deployed over 2,000 police personnel to ensure hassle-free New Year celebrations, officials said on Sunday. MG road, cyber center and sector 29 market have been identified as key sensitive points which are expected to be hit by maximum partygoers and most of the cops will be stationed here to keep things under control, they said.
The police have allocated 10 parking spaces around these places.
According to an official statement from the Gurugram Police, special programs and events will be organized mainly at 22 places in Gurugram for the New Year celebrations.
Apart from deploying huge force, police counter-attack teams, police riders, police PCR, cranes, fire brigade and ambulances with all safety equipment have also been deployed at all these places, he said.
Major security arrangements are being made at MG Road, Cyber ​​Hub, Golf Course Road, DLF phase 1 and Sector 29 market.
Around 1,044 police officers will be deployed at those 22 locations, 10 parking lots and police checkpoints, police said.
“All police officers will work together to ensure law and order and maintain peace in the city. We have identified key party points and will ensure free movement of people and traffic there,” a Gurugram police spokesperson said.
“We have deployed additional force in all sensitive areas and regular checking of vehicles will start a day before. We have also placed special checkpoints on the roads leading to Gurugram from other districts,” the spokesperson said.
Police teams under the supervision of senior officials of the ACP and DCP will check the areas to ensure safety and hassle-free festivities, the spokesperson said.
Apart from this, 68 checkpoints will also be established across the city.
A senior police officer said they will not tolerate violators of traffic rules and especially drunk drivers.
“During the New Year celebrations, keeping a close eye on those who cause disturbances and disrupt law and order, strict action will be promptly taken against them. Any kind of vandalism will not be allowed and plainclothes police have also been deployed.” the spokesperson said.
