The security guards shot on Thursday a person outside the CIA headquarters in Virginia, said a person familiar with the issue to NBC News.
The shots were shot early in the morning, which caused what the CIA said it was a “security incident.”
The shooting was not fatal.
The main door is currently closed and employees were advised to seek alternative routes, said a CIA spokesman.
Fairfax County Police said Patrol officers responded to Dolley Madison Boulevard block in McLean around 4 AM to help the CIA police with traffic control after the incident.
Fairfax officers are still helping with traffic support, police said in a statement on Thursday.
