The Minister of State for Law and Justice, Aqeel Malik, warned Wednesday that the government could deny the entrance to the children of PTI Imran Khan if they traveled to Pakistan and “spread discord.”
The children of Imran, Suleman Khan (28) and Qasim Khan (26), had drawn attention to their father’s imprisonment in a rare public appearance in May. Imran, imprisoned since August 2023, has been fulfilling a sentence in the Adiala jail in the case of corruption of £ 190 million and also faces pending essays by virtue of the anti -terrorist law related to the protests of May 9, 2023. It was the first time that they had both spoken publicly about the imprisonment of their father.
On Monday, Qasim uploaded a publication in X asking for the release of his father, saying that the founder of PTI had been imprisoned for 700 days and has separated from his family and even his personal doctor.
Imran’s sister, Aleema Khan, told journalists a day outside the Adiala prison that the two would join an upcoming PTI protest movement. She said the children would go to the United States to present their father’s case before coming to Pakistan to join the movement.
Address the matter in Geographical news ‘Capital Talk’ of the program, Malik said the government had no problems with Qasim and Suleiman entering Pakistan, provided they do not participate in political protests or activities.
Malik pointed out that, being British citizens, Qasim and Suleiman could not legally participate in Pakistani political activity. He alleged that the boys are “spreading discord and there is no permission for this.”
“If you intend to obtain a visa to visit Pakistan, the authorities interested in the Ministry of Interior will analyze their purpose of visiting … but their aunt (Aleem) said … that they will come to join the PTI movement,” said the minister.
“We have no problem to come here, but we have a problem with them participating in political activity as foreign citizens.”
In addition, he said: “I don’t think they will really come here … if they had any family value, they would have come to see their father before.”
Malik said the PTI needed to “make a political trick” and the party, Aleema and Imran were “using these children as Trump letters.” “This is his last option,” he added.
In a different note, the Minister of State of the Interior, Talal Chaudhry, said while talking to journalists today: “His children should come and know what his father has done with the country. It is something very good, but they will not come.”
However, the prime minister’s political affairs advisor, Rana Sanaullah, declared in an interview about the Ary news Show ‘Khabar’ makes a day that children could face the arrest.
“Your come here [will achieve nothing] Except the difficulties for them and then the United Kingdom embassy will have to release and recover them. ”
Questioned if he meant that they could be arrested when participating in PTI’s protest, Sanullah said: “Why will they not be arrested? If they come here to lead a violent movement, then what will be the consequence of that?”
When asked about that he supposed the movement is violent, he said that he could not trust the PTI after the events of his past protests.
