The Division of Finance on Sunday night notified strong increases in the prices of gasoline and diesel, with the rates rising in RS4.80 and RS7.95 per liter, respectively.
According to a notification seen by Dawn.comThe Finance Division declared that the new prices had been determined “based on the OPGRA recommendations (Petroleum and Gas Regulatory Authority) and the relevant ministries.”
As of July 16, the High Speed Diesel (HSD), which previously cost RS254.64 per liter, will now be sold for RS262.59.
Similarly, gasoline, which costs RS253.63 per liter, will now be available for RS258.43.
Previous estimates suggested that gasoline and diesel prices would increase by approximately RE1 and RS5 per liter, respectively, during the next fortnight, due to the highest international prices.
According to existing tax rates, the informed sources said it was estimated that the ex-sports of gasoline increases approximately RE1 per liter, depending on the final calculation on June 15, followed by an increase of RS5 per liter in HSD.
Earlier this week, under an iron coated commitment to the International Monetary Fund, the Government announced the imposition of RS77 per liter of oil tax and RS5 per liter of carbon in oven oil and load of RS2.5 per liter on gasoline and diesel from July 1.
