Washington – Senator Thom Tillis, RN.C., strongly criticized Pete Hegseth in a new interview, saying that the Secretary of Defense is “out of its depth” in his role that supervises the military of the Nation and that his decision to stop weapons to Ukraine was “amateur.”
The Republican Senator, who recently announced that he will not apply for re -election next year after opposing the Draft Internal Policy Law of the Republican Party, spoke with CNN on Wednesday about his decision in January of supporting Hegesh nomination after a confirmation confirmation content that involves accusations of alcohol abuse and a claim of sexual aggression against Hegseth.
Tillis said he decided to vote to confirm Hegseth despite having initial reservations about the accusations because “there was never an example of an account corroborated by the eyewitness.” Hegseth negó cualquier irregularidad y fue confirmado 51-50, y el vicepresidente JD Vance tuvo que romper el empate.
“Now, with the passage of time, I think it is clear that it is beyond its depth as manager of a large and complex organization,” he said in the interview.
Tillis suggested that the Republicans in the Senate Armed Services Committee had charity with their vision of Hegseth, and made it clear that he trusted the panel trial because he served in it in the previous congresses.
“No me arrepiento de la decisión que tomé en ese entonces en función de los hechos tal como los conocía entonces”, dijo Tillis. “But today, I am starting to ask me if perhaps the armed services were a little generous regarding their evaluation of their capacities as manager of the greatest, complex and possibly consistent organization of the world.”
When asked if he would vote for Hegesh today, Tillis said: “I think that according to the information I have today, if everything I had was the information on the day of the vote, I would undoubtedly vote for him again.”
However, he seemed critical of Hegesh’s role in the debacle of Signal Chat and his recent movement to stop weapons to Ukraine, calling him “amateur.” El presidente Donald Trump afirmó que no sabía nada sobre la decisión de detenerlos y pidió que se reanuden.
The senator also reflected on his vote for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for the Secretary of Health and Human Services, saying that he supported him because Senator Bill Cassidy said, R-La., “They thought we should see how it develops.”
“I have no problem with President Trump. I have a problem with some of the people I consider fans, advising him,” he said. “So I want to make it very clear to them, they act as the president when he is out of the room, he does not impress me. And they will hear more of that in the coming months.”
