Ghat cleaning drive spreads awareness on water conservation and cleanliness | Lucknow News


Lucknow: in World Water Day 2025The state of Ganga Mission of State Ganga Pradesh and the Committee of the Ganga District, Lucknow, organized a one -day program to promote water conservation and cleaning. The event, held in two sessions, through and afternoon, went to raise awareness about the protection of water resources and maintain the purity of the Gomti River.
The morning session in Mankameshwar Ghat saw the participation of officials, volunteers, NGOs and local residents. The additional director of the project, Prabhas Kumar, the main guest, spoke about the importance of the sustainable use of water and the challenges of pollution. After this, Namostute Maa Gomti conducted a cleaning campaign, Gomti’s task force, volunteers and local citizens. The Ghat and the nearby areas were cleaned thoroughly, plastic waste was collected and eliminated, and the participants pledged to keep the river clean.
A special oath taking ceremony was also organized, where attendees committed themselves to the use and cleaning of water. The session concluded with a vote of thanks and an impulse to plant mass trees.

At night, a Gomti Aarti remained under the guidance of Mahant Divya Giri. Cultural actions highlighted the importance of water conservation and the historical and cultural importance of the river. The event presented a presentation of Ganesh Vandana, a narrative session entitled Gomti Katha by Jaldoot Nand Kishore Verma, and Jal Ki Kahani, Nadiyon Ki Jubani, who explored the role of the rivers in the Indian tradition.

A ‘reuse and revive workshop provided practical ideas on water recycling, management and sustainable development. Participants discussed conservation techniques and shared their experiences.
The night also included a Jal Kalash Samaroh, symbolizing the importance of water in Indian traditions. A dance drama, Bhavishya-Shakti, represented the effects of water pollution and possible solutions. The winners of Gomti Samman and a painting competition were recognized for their contributions to disseminate awareness about water conservation.

Dfo Lucknow Sitashu Pandey, a special guest in the event, praised the efforts made towards water conservation and emphasized the role of society to keep the rivers clean.
The program concluded with Gomti Aarti, where participants, including devotees and dignitaries, promised to protect and maintain the cleaning of the river. The event saw the participation of officials such as Sonalika Singh (Head of the Unit, Ganga Clean State Mission), Shaivya Singh, Pramila Singh (district project officer, district bargain committee), Shivang Verma (Gomti task group) and other social and citizen workers.
The event successfully involved different sections of society in promoting water conservation and cleaning, which further strengthened efforts to protect the Gomti River.
