Gilgit-Baltistan police chief prohibited the use of the Tiktok social media platform for force personnel in order to maintain the “discipline” on Monday.
A notification issued today from the GB Police Inspector Office said: “To maintain discipline, uniformity and dignity of force, it is indicated that no GB police officer/official use the social media platform (Tiktok).”
He ordered all the police officers of the District and directors of the unit to bring the direction to the notification of all personnel under their command, warning that any breach would be “seriously seen and cause disciplinary action.”
In July, two agents of the Islamabad Security Division were suspended and facing an investigation to allegedly violate the social media policy of the capital by making and loading Videos of Tiktok in uniform.
The sources had said that dozens of other minor rank officials had been warned and ordered to eliminate their Tiktok accounts to avoid new measures.
In March, Punjab police warned their officials who do not express “offensive opinions” about the State using their personal social media accounts.
In September 2024, the Islamabad and Punjab police had devised policies on the use of social media platforms by officials and officers. The policies had restricted police officers and officials to give any opinion or declaration on all social media platforms.
The bosses were also responsible for personally supervising and monitoring the activities of officers and officials published in their respective divisions, areas and units.
In the same month, the government had once again asked its employees to refrain from using social networks to express political or religious opinions, as well as share information with any unauthorized government official or the media.
