Three people were killed when a garbage truck belonging to the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) hit multiple vehicles in Rashid Minhas Road in the Karachi Gulistan-i-Jauhar area, police and rescue officials said Wednesday.
Talking with Dawn.comThe deputy inspector of the Traffic Police, Ahmad Nawaz Cheema, said: “The SSWMB trash truck was on their way when their brakes failed while they descended from the elevated passage of Jauhar around 5:20 pm
“Consequently, the truck was uncontrolled and hit three motorcycles and two cars, killing three people, including a woman,” said Metropolis Traffic Police.
He said the driver had managed to escape from the place, leaving behind the dump truck.
“The dump truck, damaged cars and bicycles were taken by the Sharea Faisal Police.”
The bodies of the deceased were transferred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC), said a spokesman for the Edhi Foundation Dawn.comidentifying the deceased as Maryam Zehra and her husband Kamran.
In a separate incident, a woman and her little daughter died while three were injured.
Chema Chema DIG said a contract transport bus had broken in Khokhrapar-4 around 5 pm due to a pressure failure.
“However, suddenly he began and got into a residential building, instantly killing a woman and a child while hurting three others,” he said.
The bus driver was arrested while the bus was removed with the help of a crane. The bodies and the injured were transferred to the JPMC.
The Edhi Foundation spokesman identified the victims as Bisma Imran, 35, and his little daughter Imran, 3 years old.
Police surgeon Dr. Sumaiya Syed said Dawn.com That bisma suffered injuries to fall in love in the lower half of the body, while Maryam suffered multiple lesions of falling in love throughout the body.
Meanwhile, the Edhi Foundation, in a statement, said that until now, in the last five days until February, 14 people, including five children and two women, died in accidents, while another 100 were injured in the metropolis.
