Karachi: In the middle of a continuous operation against gangs that operate in river areas, more than 260 dacoits have contacted the police and expressed their willingness to surrender with their weapons, with the condition that the Government facilitates its reintegration in society, arose on Monday.

Talk with SunriseThe Interior Minister, Zia-Ul-Hassan Lanjar, who presided over the Kamc meeting, said the surrender process would be strictly handled in accordance with the law. “The law is already empowering the government to deal with those who are willing to surrender,” he added.
He also said that Sindh’s government was “extremely” sincere and determined to eliminate bandits in the Katcha area. “However, any bandit or group of bandits who paid peacefully and appear before the law strictly subject to rules and regulations, since the law is clear in matters of surrender,” he added.
Planning to guarantee the surrender of dacoits
Informed sources said that the authorities were working on a plan to provide an exit route for those willing to surrender, while hardened criminals involved in serious crimes such as murder and kidnapping for rescue can face strict action.
They said that a plan was also under deliberation to encourage dacoits and their absensors in river areas to surrender, provided they renounce their sophisticated weapons unconditionally.
A report on this development to the provincial government has been submitted, which is currently examining the legal framework to handle hardened criminals in the Katcha area involved in serious crimes such as murder and kidnapping for the rescue, the sources said.
They said that the provincial government was exploring possible legal provisions that could offer an exit for these outlaws if they choose to surrender.
They also said that some law enforcement agencies were considering offering a general amnesty to the dacoits that agree to surrender. However, according to reports, the provincial government doubted to extend clemency to hardened criminals involved in serious crimes such as multiple murders and kidnapping for rescue.
Police are looking for equipment, weapons to combat bandits
During the KAMC meeting, the Inspector General of the Additional Police of the Zubair Nazir Sheikh police provided information on the situation of the law and order and continuous operations in the areas of Katcha. He emphasized the urgent requirement of modern equipment, advanced weapons and safe vehicles to effectively combat bandits.
In addition, he highlighted the need to improve facilities at the existing control points in river areas and plans described to equip the police with avant -garde technology and professional training to increase their capacities.
The Interior Minister directed that the detailed and practical recommendations to provide the necessary resources to the Police are promptly presented.
He said that after the construction of bridges in Dadu, Moro, Larkana and Khairpur, the crimes had decreased, but it is vital to accelerate work in Ghotki and Kashmore Bridge projects, so they are completed as soon as possible. The construction of these bridges on this route will also significantly reduce crime.
Lanjar also asked schools and education and health departments about the number of schools, educational institutions, hospitals and dispensaries in the areas of Katcha.
He said that the purpose of this research was to establish temporary campuses during operations to ensure that the provision of education and health facilities is not interrupted.
He acknowledged that the delays in the past had prevented the operation from being completed, but emphasized that the operation against the body should be taken to a successful conclusion in all circumstances.
He appealed to all those interested to demonstrate collective determination and stop as strong partners.
