Funeral begins for six killed in Israeli strike on Qatar – World

The funeral of six people killed in an Israeli strike addressed to Hamas in Qatar began in a doha mosque on Thursday in strict security when the gulf’s ruler joined the mourners.

A coffin with a flag of Qatar and another five with Palestinian flags were taken to the mosque, Live images of Qatar Television were shown.

In front of the coffins, the EMIR, the sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, prayed with dozens of mourners, some with traditional white robes, others with military uniforms.

The Interior Ministry said the dead would be buried in the Cemetery of Mesaimeer after the funeral of the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdul Wahhab Mosque.

The authorities reinforced security, with control points on the access roads to the mosque.

Israel pointed to Hamas leaders in Doha with air attacks on Tuesday, but the group said their senior officials survived.

Hamas said five of its members were killed: the son of the main negotiators Khalil Al-Hayya, Hamam, the director of his office, Jihad Labad, and the bodyguards Ahmad Mamlouk, Abdallah Abdelwahd and Mmen Hassoun.

Cabo de Qatar Lance Badr Saad Mohammed al-Humaidi Al-Dosari was also killed.

In an interview with CNN On Wednesday, Qatar’s prime minister, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, said he could not confirm Haya’s fate.

Sheikh Mohammed said that the Israeli attack had killed any hope for Israeli hostages in Gaza, and added that Qatar was re -evaluating “everything” around his role as a mediator in high -fire conversations.

Doha has been a place for several rounds of indirect negotiations between Hamas and Israel.

The Emirate allowed Hamas to establish a political position in Doha in 2012 with the blessing of the United States, which has tried to maintain a communication channel with the group.

Sheikh Mohammed said he expected a regional collective response to the attack and that an Arab-Islamic summit would be held in Doha to decide on a course of action.
